Program Requirements

  • Achieve a 3.0 or higher GPA each semester and maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled program meetings, workshops, and lectures.
  • Participate in required professional, educational, and scholarly (research) activities.
  • Seek information about, select and attend optional seminars, conferences or workshops.
  • Take required graduate admission tests (GRE) and submit a copy of the results to the McNair office.
  • Complete an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) with assistance from the academic coordinator at the start of each semester.
  • Meet with the academic coordinator on a monthly basis during each semester for counseling and advisement.
  • Meet regularly with your McNair social mentor, but at least twice each semester.
  • Successfully complete the Summer Research Program.
  • Successfully complete a research methods course before the start of your summer research project.
  • Participate in a tutoring program if needed.
  • Be punctual to all scheduled meetings and other program events.
  • Complete an exit interview upon completion of the program.
  • Submit all required documents to the McNair office on or before the scheduled deadlines.
  • Cooperate with alumni follow-up surveys after your graduation from Penn State.
